Well COVID 19 didn’t quite disappear as the clock struck midnight on the 1st of January however with the vaccination roll out and better contract tracing, our lives should start to look something similar to pre-COVID times. 2021 in terms of the horse industry looks to be promising - the recent Gold Coast Yearling sales were very strong and there’s hope that this will continue into the Melbourne Premier Yearling sale in late February. Equestrian sports are kicking off with a number of shows and clinics organised for a packed year. At KEC, as you likely know, we have made a number of improvements to our facilities. We have renovated the brick barn, giving us an additional 9 stables. This is to accommodate a recent increase in hospitalised patients for a number of conditions such as eye injuries, wounds, and laminitis. We have built another 4 day yards, making it more convenient for our clients to arrive at the clinic and drop their horse off for the day. In early February, we will be installing electric gates to create a new float entrance between the round yard and the brick barn. This will allow clients to unload their horses safely. Luke's other business, Motion Equine Podiatry Consulting, has set up a state of the art farrier workshop and will be providing additional performance horse services in 2021 - watch this space for more information!
